Willard Beach Project Profile

Shared on Hastings View last summer, this Willard Beach residential remodel continues to be a great example of the durability of Integrity’s Ultrex Fiberglass windows and doors in a coastal environment.

Homeowners on the coast are looking for products that will hold up against hot sun, salt spray, flying sand, and driving rain. When it’s time to build or remodel, a high performance, durable window is the key to ensuring the longevity of a seaside home.

A recent project in coastal Maine demonstrates how Integrity’s Ultrex Fiberglass windows were used to transform a home while protecting it from the elements and maximizing ocean views.

Willard Beach

This home near Willard Beach, Portland, ME makes use of the many benefits of Integrity All Ultrex and Wood-Ultrex windows and doors. Given the home’s close proximity to the water, the building materials used had to withstand harsh coastal conditions including driving rain, strong winds, high humidity, salt air and more. Ultrex Fiberglass resists harsh corrosives, remains stable in extreme temperatures, and expands at nearly the same rate as glass, resulting in windows that keep their seal and don’t leak.

Marvin & Integrity Windows and Doors for a Combined Renovation and New Construction Project

The Cellardoor Winery in Linconville, Maine teamed up with Phi Home Designs to embark on a 4-year series of projects that included the renovation of a 200-year-old barn and construction of a new wine making facility. The combination of both historic and commercial needs presented a challenge of compatibility.

Phi Home Designs Owner Michael Roy said, “We wanted the right look with a combination of barn sash style windows and some clear view double hung windows out the back of the farmhouse, to take advantage of the beautiful vineyard view. Marvin makes it possible to change the design from one section of a building to another, while still keeping the continuity throughout. Because the main building was going to see many, many visitors on a yearly basis, Marvin was the absolute right choice.”

Using Integrity in the new wine making facility (which is located across the street from the barn) allowed for some cost savings without jeopardizing quality or the architectural feel of the building. “Integrity had just the right amount of options, while staying within the Marvin Family of Products for each main building on the winery grounds kept the look and style cohesive, ”Roy said. “The two project lines are very compatible.”

Integrity Windows on a Tight Budget

The Anderson Residence called for a large quantity of glass on a tight budget, in a location with little storage space, and a short construction schedule.

Letarte 1

This home was built to be entirely handicap accessible on first floor with a guest apartment on the second floor. Having a durable product that fit the design of the home was important, as was the ease of operation of the windows. Intrigued by the technology behind Integrity, Letarte Brothers Construction co-owner, Josh Letarte said,“We are able to confidently use the product and know the customer will have years of use without a lot of maintenance. Integrity allows us to keep to our tight schedules without unnecessary delays.”

The Hastings Training Show Hits the Road!

“I want to get back to my City by the Bay…”

No, I am not referring to the rock group Journey’s song “Lights” – I’m talking about Portland, Maine on Casco Bay!  Once again,  A.W. Hastings University is taking the show on the road this winter for our annual Portland Training Week – March 5th – 8th.   For the 10th year in a row, this special training opportunity will be held at the Fireside Inn and Suites directly off of Interstate 95 in Portland.  Registration activity has been brisk for our most popular workshops. We hope to see all of our Maine and New Hampshire retailers at this closer-to home location!

The schedule looks like this – we begin the week on Tuesday with Window and Door Performance, followed by Integrity Essentials on Wednesday, Marvin Essentials on Thursday and then we will round out the week with morning and afternoon sessions of Marvin “What’s New in 2013” and Integrity “What’s New in 2013” on Friday.

Whether a novice to windows and doors, or an experienced fenestration expert – there is something for everyone this year.  I am looking forward to seeing our northern colleagues in Portland!
